Matthijs has been working as a teacher of English in Viimsi since 2014. Next to his teaching, he deals with school media and works as assistant conductor in Viimsi Gümnaasium's mixed choir.

"For me, Viimsi is a place where culture starts from a young age in schools. As a teacher, I find it important that there is quality education from a young age, with room for children to develop themselves in sports and cultural activities. These activities should be supported equally by the local municipality, regardless of whether this is a sport or art. Similarly, it is important that our youth feels heard and supported in their mental and physical health. We especially need places for young people to spend time outdoors in healthy ways."
